Overview

The Jung Society of Melbourne boasts one of the largest and most comprehensive specialist libraries in Australia dedicated to topics and authors related to the work of C G Jung. This valuable collection has been curated over the past 60 years and comprises over 1500 books, journals, and audiovisual materials.

Borrowing Information:

  1. Eligibility: Members of the society can access the library by showing evidence of a current membership card.

  2. Borrowing Limit: Members can borrow up to 4 items across different media (books, journals, audiovisual) for a period of one month.

  3. Extension of Borrowing: If a title is not on a waiting list, members can request an extension of borrowing for one additional month, subject to approval by the librarian.

  4. Overdue Items: Members are expected to return borrowed items on time. Failure to do so may result in appropriate suspension of borrowing rights.

Lost or Damaged Items:

  1. Replacement Cost: In the event that an item is lost or damaged, the borrower is responsible for covering the replacement cost of the item.

  2. Suspension of Borrowing Rights: Borrowing rights will be suspended until the borrower reaches a full settlement for lost or damaged items.

Associate Member Borrowing:

  1. Associate Membership: Associate Membership is a special membership category designed for regional and housebound members. It is available at an annual membership fee of $50.

  2. Limited Benefits: Associate Membership does not grant free entry to lectures, but it provides access to the library and discounted rates for attending lectures, workshops, and courses.

  3. Bond Requirement: A once-off bond of $100 is required at the time of joining as an Associate Member. This bond is refundable upon resignation or upgrade to full membership.

Postage and Return:

  1. Postage Fees: Borrowers are responsible for all relevant postage fees, including the return journey back to the library.

  2. Return Procedure: Items must be returned by Registered Post, and borrowers must provide a tracking number to the librarian when posting the items for return.
