This year a new group is being offered. The aim of the group will be to build a creative and safe container not only for discussion but also sharing of practice.
We will read and discuss Robert Johnson’s book ‘Inner Work’ which focuses on ‘active imagination’ and dreams as a way to communicate with your unconscious. ‘Active imagination’ in particular is a practice that allows for interaction and dialogue with internal figures. Jung used this method and says it was a source of great wisdom and the foundation for his theories, and it can be transformative. As Jung says:
Active imagination is to be understood as a way or method, to heal, raise and transform the personality. ~ C G Jung, ETH Lecture, Pages 174.
Through active imagination the image is imprinted on the psychic essence of personality with the purpose of transformation. ~ C G Jung, ETH Lecture, Pages 174.
Active imagination is the intentional activating of a function which otherwise remains passive. ~ C G Jung, ETH Lecture, Pages 175.
During each month’s session we will discuss a section of the book and share our practice. The intention is to run this as a closed group so we can journey together deepening our understanding and practice of active imagination and dream work. We will meet monthly.
We will limit the number of participants to Twelve (12) so early booking is recommended.
When we finish the book Inner Work we will move onto the book ‘Jung on Active Imagination’ which is a gathering of Jung’s writing on the topic. It is preferable for participants to have some understanding of Jung’s work and those who can commit to the group for a year. We will meet in person on a Friday or Saturday night at Habitat at the corner of Mont Albert Road and Burke Road, Canterbury (2 Mont Albert Road).
