Following the publication of her book “The Other Goddess: Mary Magdalene and the Goddesses of Eros & Secret Knowledge” (April 2022), Dr Joanna Kujawa will discuss the four levels of consciousness found in the Gospel of Mary Magdalene. She will explore the connection with the ancient Egyptian rituals associated with the Mysteries of Isis, which she believes are examples of ‘spiritual individuation’.
In his Two Essays on Analytical Psychology, C G Jung defined individuation as a process through which we bring together all our parts. This process of individuation results in creating and embracing the ‘incompatible uniqueness’ of our’ ‘in-dividual’ self, which for him, was spiritual in nature and the final point in the development of human psyche.
Jung was immensely interested in the Gnostic Gospels, which helped him to shape his views on religion and dogma. Gnostic sources represent the lost Goddess as wise and mysterious, and in possession of the healing power of Eros.
Dr Joanna Kujawa has a PhD from Monash University and has a BA & MA in Medieval Philosophy and History from the University of Toronto. Her academic volume on spiritual travel “Jerusalem Diary: Searching for the Tomb & House of Jesus” has become a best selling guide to that city.
Describing herself as ‘scholar’ and ‘spiritual detective,’ Joanna asks “Who was the real Mary Magdalene and what were her teachings?” & “Can sexuality and spirituality be experienced as one?”
Joanna is passionately dedicated to the Divine Feminine in all traditions and its recovery in our personal lives.
